PAOLO BORGHI HANG PLAYER
  • Paolo Borghi Hang

Hypnotic, relaxing and sophisticated. This is Paolo Borghi’s music, the Italian musician, who won last year’s contest “vote your favorite fringe credited busker” and he is now coming back as an invited musician. Sitting with his legs crossed, he is able to let his hands fly and dance on his "hang", an unusual percussion instrument created by two artisans in Bern, Switzerland in 2000. Shaped like a UFO, the hang is made up of two flattened half-spheres, in tempered steel, that look like two united shields. It can have different tonalities and Paolo owns three different version of it. Self-taught, he has experimented the exclusive potentialities of the hang, with brilliant results. The metallic but warm and delicate sound delights the audience, who is attracted by the unusual sonority of the performance.
Paolo Borghi loves building music instruments such as flamenco cajons, wooden drums, often using recycled materials. He has already released two CDs and at the moment he is studying Music-therapy and working on "sound massages" in gyms and fitness clubs.
