Refined style, virtuosity and originality expressed in different methods and music performances. These are the qualities of the Ukraine music collective “Rapsodia”, the municipal orchestra of the city Ivano – Frankivsk. Its gifted members joined in 1997 to start a project of artistic research. Their aim is to conserve and promote the Ukraine traditional music and its folk heritage. A huge number of instruments typical of old feasts and solemnities is skilfully played to offer colourful and lively interpretations. “Telenca”, “drymbas”, “bubons”, old pipes, string instruments and percussions are played together with classical instruments such as the fiddle, clarinet, cello and double bass. The result is a wonderful mix of sounds. The band has received great success in their homeland and abroad. They have been invited to play in many international festivals or art projects in many European countries, like Russia, Poland, Italy, Germany, France.
